The story of EPIQR+ begins in France in 1982. Jean-Louis Genre was presenting his diploma in architecture on the renovation of the historic centre of the town of Aubagne in the south of France.<\/p>

That's how he discovered the MER Rapid Estimation Method, published by the Direction de la Construction, which enabled him to draw up an inventory of existing buildings in his study area as the first basis for his diploma project.<\/p><\/div> \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In 1989, he meets Professor Pierre Merminod, in Geneva. He was familiar with this French method and was working on an adaptation of the MER OFL method for the Swiss building stock built from the 1960s onwards. Professor Merminod then recruited him as an assistant in the development of the MER 60 method.<\/p>

On Professor Merminod's retirement, Jean-Louis Genre joins the EPFL's Solar Energy Laboratory (LESO) and works on developing the MERIP method as part of the PIBAT programme set up by the Federal Office for Economic Affairs. The MERIP method is a great success in Switzerland, particularly in the French-speaking part of the country and in Ticino. Architect Jean-Louis Genre founded EPIQR R\u00e9novation S\u00e0rl in June 2001.<\/p>

After obtaining his diploma as a DPLG architect in 1983 from the Unit\u00e9 P\u00e9dagogique d'Architecture de Marseille Luminy (UPAM), Jean-Louis Genre was put in charge of private renovation projects as part of the renovation of the old town centres of Aubagne and Marseille Belsunce.<\/p>

He moves to Switzerland in 1989 and works with Professor Pierre Merminod on the development of the MER 60 method as part of a research project funded by the Office F\u00e9d\u00e9ral du Logement (OFL).<\/p>

He joins the Solar Energy Laboratory (LESO) at the EPFL in 1991, where he plays an active part in developing the MERIP diagnostic method (OFQC PIBAT programme - 1990 to 1995).<\/p>

In 1996, he becomes the instigator of the European EPIQR project, a European extension of the MERIP method, financed by the European Community and the Federal Office for Education and Science (OFES). Together with Professor Andr\u00e9 Faist, they coordinate and develop the project.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Flourentzos FLOURENTZOU is an energy engineer, associate director and founding member of Estia. His areas of expertise include multi-criteria decision support, bioclimatic architecture, particularly natural ventilation and cooling, renovation and property strategy.
Originally from Cyprus, he started out as a mechanical technician and then broadened his studies in France with a diploma in energy engineering from the Mines de Douai and a master's degree in fluid mechanics from the University of Valenciennes. He became interested in the social sciences with a master's degree in development studies at the UniGe and completed a doctorate at the EPFL.
He took his first steps as a researcher in bioclimatic architecture at the Solar Energy and Building Physics Laboratory (LESO-PB \/ EPFL) before setting up Estia with his partners in 2002.
A keen researcher, he has not stopped since his first projects at LESO on passive cooling (Pascool), renovation (first EPIQR programmer), property strategy (Investimmo) and subsequently at Estia for 25 years: EPIQR+ for any assignment, Albatros - initial choices for sustainable development, CoolingVent - climatic resilience with ventilation cooling, OptiRen - gap performance, ReCO2st - optimal choices for renovation, E-DYCE - precise energy labels that make sense, PRELUDE - works roadmap for transitional renovations...

Julien Boutillier is a computer engineer (HEIG_VD).<\/p>

From 2008 to 2009, he worked at sDataWay on the development of the building control management interface, R&D at PMI Neuch\u00e2tel, IDC (Industrial Development Center) at PMP Neuch\u00e2tel, as well as at the Nespresso Avenches site, using Wonderware tools.<\/p>

He was hired in 2010 as part of a partnership between EPFL's urban architecture laboratory (LAURE) and Estia.<\/p>

Charlotte Jianoux graduated from EPFL in 2022 with a Master's in Architecture and a Minor in integrated design, architecture and sustainability.<\/p>

Her interest in the interdisciplinarity between architecture and engineering deepened when she obtained a second Master's degree at the Ecole des Ponts et Chauss\u00e9es.<\/p>

With these Master's, she gained substantial expertise in the environmental aspects of construction, particularly in the area of carbon emissions.<\/p>

Adrien Genre graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) in 2012 with a Master's degree in Architecture.<\/p>

After working at EPIQR R\u00e9novation during his studies, he completed an internship at Gigon\/Guyer in Zurich in 2009 and then worked as a project manager at Charles Pictet Architecte in Geneva from 2012 to 2018.<\/p>

Armed with all this professional experience, he sets up his own business in 2019, while holding a position as an assistant at LAPIS in the architecture section of EPFL.<\/p>

Convinced of the growing importance of maintaining and preserving our built heritage, Adrien strives to provide relevant solutions to the challenges of tomorrow, both through renovation and through the construction of new buildings.<\/p>
